Preparation Of The Remedy Solution

Part 4 provides the practical details on preparing the remedy for administration. This includes three methods: the water glass dose, the large remedy solution bottle, and the small remedy solution bottle with dilution glass.

How To Prepare The Water Glass Dose

The water glass dose is an old Homoeopathic method used during acute diseases. This is because many acute diseases required the rapid to moderate repetition of the remedy. This is also a convenient method when no bottles are available.

What You Need

  1. A 250 ml (8 oz.) glass.
  2. 1, rarely 2, small pellets of the chosen remedy.
  3. A clean teaspoon for stirring the glass and taking the remedy
  4. A small amount of brandy/alcohol for a preservative if the solution is needed over a longer period.
  5. Boil the glass and spoon for 5 minutes before using the first time. After usage wash the spoon in hot water and keep it for remedy preparation only. After use cover the water glass solution with a lid or saucer and keep in a cool place free of odours.

Dissolve 1, rarely 2, small pellets of the remedy in 125 ml (4 oz.) to 250 ml (8 oz.) water depending on the sensitivity of the patient.

For hyposensitive persons use 2 pills and 125 ml (4 oz.) glass of water. Stir the glass of water vigorously and give 1, 2, 3 or increasingly more teaspoons of the remedy solution as needed.

For moderate sensitivity use 1 pill in a 125 ml (4 oz.) glass of water. Stir the glass moderately and give 1, 2 or increasingly more teaspoons as needed.

For hypersensitive persons use 1 pill in 250 ml (8 oz.) glass of water. Stir the glass gently and give smaller portions of a teaspoon (1/4, 1/2) or use 1 or 2 drops.

For idiosyncratic persons use 1 pill in 250 ml (8 oz.) glass of water. If necessary, use the multi glass method. Use 1 drop from the first glass and gently stir it into a second dilution glass or more and give 1 drop.

Give the patient a single test dose and then repeat the remedies at suitable intervals if and when necessary to speed the cure.

The patient should not eat or drink 1/2 hour before and after the dose. They should limit or stop drinking coffee and avoid exposure to strong aromatic oils. They should not start any new supplements, herbal medicines or homeopathic remedies during the trial period.

How to Prepare the Large Remedy Solution Bottle

The large water bottle method was used by Samuel Hahnemann. This method does not require a dilution glass. This method requires a 250 ml (8 oz.) to 500 ml (16 oz.) bottle. If glass bottles are not available one can buy a plastic bottle of pure drinking water from the store and use it instead.

What You Need

  1. 1 new 250 ml (8 oz) to 500 ml (16 oz.) glass bottle or a bottle of pure drinking water.
  2. Use 1, rarely 2 small pills of the chosen remedy.
  3. A clean spoon for taking the remedy
  4. A small amount of brandy/alcohol for a preservative if the solution is needed over a longer period.
  5. Boil the glass bottle and spoon for 5 minutes before using the first time. After usage wash the spoon in hot water and keep it for remedy preparation only.

How to Prepare the Remedy Solution Bottle

  1. Pour out 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of water to make room for the preservative.
  2. Dissolve 1, or rarely 2, small pellets in the bottle of water. Swish the bottle gently to melt the pill.
  3. Add 2-4 tablespoons of alcohol (brandy) to the bottle as a preservative if necessary.

How to Make a Dose

Dissolve 1, rarely 2, small pellets of the remedy in a 250 ml (8 oz.) to 500 ml (16 0z.) bottle depending on the sensitivity of the patient. To succuss (bang) the bottle, hold the remedy bottle in your right hand and bang it downward firmly against your left palm.

In the hyposensitive use 2 pills in the 250 ml (8 oz.) solution, give the remedy bottle 8-12 succussions, and administer 1, 2, 3 or increasing more teaspoons as a dose.

In moderate sensitivity use 1 pill in the 250 ml (8 oz.) solution, give the remedy bottle 4-8 succussions and give 1, 2 or increasing more teaspoons as needed.

In the hypersensitive use 1 pill in the 500 ml (16 oz.) solution, give the remedy bottle 1-3 succussions and give smaller portions of a teaspoon (1/4, 1/2) or use 1 or 2 drops.

In children and elderly the baseline measurements are 1/2 teaspoon for the elderly and 1 drop measurement for infants.

Give the patient a single test dose and then repeat the remedy at suitable intervals if necessary to speed the cure.

The patient should not eat or drink 1/2 hour before and after the dose. They should limit or stop drinking coffee and avoid exposure to strong aromatic oils. They should not start any new supplements, herbal medicines or homeopathic remedies during the trial period.

How to Prepare the Small Remedy Solution Bottle and Dilution Glass

What You Need

  1. One new 4 oz (120 ml) bottle.
  2. A clean glass.
  3. A clean spoon.
  4. 1, rarely 2 small pills of the remedy
  5. A small amount of brandy/alcohol for a preservative.
  6. Boil the bottle, glass and spoon for 5 minutes before using the first time. After using the glass and spoon wash them and keep the glass and spoon for the remedy preparation only.

How to make the remedy solution:

  1. Dissolve 1, rarely 2 small pellets of the remedy and place it in the 120 ml (4 oz) bottle.
  2. Pour 105 ml (3 1/2 oz) of water in the bottle and dissolve the pill.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of alcohol (brandy) to the bottle as a preservative.

Dissolve 1, rarely 2, small pellets of the remedy in a 125 ml (4 oz.) bottle depending on the sensitivity of the patient. To succuss (bang) the bottle, hold the remedy bottle in your right hand and bang it downward firmly against your left palm.

In the hyposensitive use 1-2 pills in a 125 ml (4 oz.) solution and give the remedy bottle 8-12 succussions. Stir 1, 2, 3 or increasingly more teaspoons into a 125 ml (4 oz.) dilution glass and administer 1, 2, 3 or increasingly more teaspoons as a dose.

In moderate sensitivity use 1 pill in a 125 ml (4 oz.) solution and give the remedy bottle 4-8 succussions. Stir 1 or increasingly more teaspoons into a 125 ml (4 oz.) dilution glass and administer 1 or increasingly more teaspoons as a dose.

In the hypersensitive use 1 pill in a 125 ml (4 oz.) solution and give the remedy bottle 1-3 succussions. Stir smaller portions of a teaspoon (1/4, 1/2) or 1 or 2 drops into 125 ml (4 oz.) dilution glass. Then administer smaller portions of a teaspoon (1/4, 1/2) or 1 or 2 drops as a dose. In ultra-hypersensitive persons take 1 drop from the first glass and stir into a second or more dilution glasses and give 1 drop.

In children and the elderly the baseline measurements are 1/2 teaspoon for the elderly and 1 drop for infants.
